Southern Jam Jazz
We had 3 schools make the long journey up from Christchurch to play Jazz music for us. Rangi Ruru, Christchurch Boys High and Christs College. We remembered most of the instruments from our trip to the ASB Theatre to see the Orchestra play.
There was heaps of clapping, dancing and woo-hooing. We have some serious Jazz lovers in the school!

Go Blue So I Can Play With You!
Thank you to all of our whanau who supported today's blue mufti day. Our tamariki looked amazing, like a shimmering sea of colours. All of the teachers commented on how lovely it was to see the different shades of blue, which represented the diversity we have in our school and community.
This ties back perfectly to why we were wearing blue, to support a mum in our school community who is raising money for playground accessible to all members of our community.

Farewell Jack!
Today we farewell a treasured classmate and friend... Jack heads back to the USA
on his next adventure!
Here are some photos of Jack's visit down to Kaikoura to go whale watching.
We loved hearing about the birds and whales he was lucky enough to see.

Jack had a surprise farewell lunch on Wednesday. The food was GOOD! Thanks to the families for bringing along some treats!

Look forward to your summer break back home, we'll all miss your infectious smile, supportive nature and kindness you show everyone.

One Point Perspective Drawing
Room 15 have been exploring technical drawing starting with one point perspective drawing. We began with learning how to draw bubble writing, we then chose a point on our page and ruled lines from each edge of our letters. Next was choosing how long we wanted the shadow of our letters and drawing the edge at the top point of the letters.
Now to water colours, we discussed complimentary colours, cool colours, warm colours and then choose our combinations.
I think we have been inspired to learn and experiment and I can't wait until our next drawings!

Orchestra Visit
All of the school's in Marlborough were invited to the ASB Theatre to watch the Marlborough Civic Orchestra play. What an amazing opportunity to listen to the orchestra instruments played by some very talented musicians, including Bella Strong from Rm 16 with her violin.
We were lucky enough to listen to a piece of music composed and conducted by an ex Witherlea Student Codi Rasmussen.
There was a piece of music played using an old fashioned typewriter too, as well as Seth being invited up to the stage to play with the Orchestra.
You can see from the photos our students were delighted with our visit.
