A week of birthdays!

We celebrated Laylani's birthday on Wednesday and today was Jasmines!  Lucky us to have double the celebrations.
Thanks to Jasmine's mum for bringing in a HUGE chocolate cake for us to share!  Little did she know that we have been learning about fractions this week!  We had fun working out how to make equal sized parts out of our whole cake.  A decision maths lesson.

Collaborative Poster

Today we completed our collaborative whakataukī poster. We each completed a square but had no idea how amazing the final product would look!

This poster is of two Manaia.
The Manaia is usually depicted as having the head of a bird and the tail of a fish and the body of a man, though it is sometimes depicted as a bird, a serpent, or a human figure in profile.
It is thought to be a protector from evil. Some say it is a messenger from the spirit world.
These two Manaia link together to signify working together.
By completing this poster we worked collaboratively and exemplify the whakataukī message of “Mahitahi” working together.
